Deja vu? Dell re-announced Wednesday that notebook batteries throughout its lines have the potential to "overheat, which could pose a risk of fire."
As others note, there is a need for a new, weasling term to mean "explode" without bringing that term's connotations with blackened stumps, screaming victims and terrorism to the table. I suggest "pyrokinetic efflusions," as it offers the perfect balance between sinister newspeak and babbling pretension.
Affected models go back years, and include the Inspiron 700m I gave to my mother-in-law.
It's not quite clear if this is new, or just Dell conducting a whip-around on already-recalled models to get lawsuit-bait batteries out of circulation. Either way, can't hurt to check.
