The medics have been in detention since 1999, during which time 52 of the 426 infected children have died of Aids.

The story doesn't say what the motives of the defendants were alleged to have been; for their part, they say "they are being made scapegoats for unhygienic hospitals."

It's also not clear how they supposedly infected 426 (!) kids. Through infected needles? Blood transfusions? If anyone out there has been following this story and knows more, drop a note in the comments.
