Let me put this in technical terms.

Ewww. EWWW! Ow. Omigawd. AAAAAGG. Someone get some smelling salts, I'm feeling a little swoony over here!

You've probably read about how new research in Africa suggests that male circumcision does a great job of preventing AIDS transmission (from woman to man, at least).

So the folks at Slate just published an excruciating look at exactly how you circumcise an adult male:

First, doctors inject some painkillers into the twonerves that connect into the base of the penis. (They might add a fewmore injections around the circumference of the shaft, to create what'scalled a "ring block.") Once the penis is good and numb, it's possibleto gently detach the inside of the foreskin from the shaft by pushing ablunt probe between the two. Then it's time for the snipping.
