(((*This one took a couple of years to launch, but once its venom hit, it felled its political victim faster than a cobra. You've got the pop-star/actress, the tabloids, the Internet, the "he's supposed to be religious and celibate"
angle... the one novelty is that the number-one suspect is the female pop-star, who definitely took the video herself and may have been discarded by the victim.)))

Lawmaker summoned to explain sex tape
Wed Dec 6, 2006 10:08am ET
JAKARTA (Reuters) - An Indonesian parliamentary committee intends to question a legislator over a video distributed on the Internet that appears to show him naked with a singer, the head of the committee said Wednesday.
The shaky, one-minute video that appears to show Yahya Zaini, a member of parliament from the country's biggest party, Golkar, with the woman has caused shock in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country.
"We will summon him and ask him explain this matter clearly," Slamet Effendy Yusuf, chairman of the House of Representatives' honorary commission, said by telephone.
The commission has the power to dismiss lawmakers.
Yusuf said Zaini, also chairman of Golkar's religious affairs department, ((((oooops)))) could be dismissed as legislator if it was proved that he was the person on the video, which media reports said was shot two years ago.
"I don't know where he is now. I tried to call him but his mobile phone did not answer. I sent him an SMS but he didn't reply," he said.
Zaini could also not immediately be contacted by Reuters for comment.
The woman who was naked in the video, Indonesian pop singer
Maria Eva, held a televised news conference in which she said she took the footage using her mobile phone.
She denied distributing the video on the Internet and said she had lost her mobile phone.
The video has been widely passed around the Internet and has grabbed headlines over the last few days in Indonesia, which is generally conservative on matters of sex and not used to the sort of sex scandals that have affected politicians in other countries.
((She's a pop singer and party political activist. Somebody circulated the video through journalists the local politburo. He resigned his party post practically immediately. Yep, that's a Centipede all right.)))

Sex Scandal
December 1st, 2006, in News, Politics, by Patung
A sex scandal involving a Golkar politician and a dangdut singer.
A video recording has been circulating which purports to show a member of parliament from the Golkar party, with the initials Y.Z., and a lady dangdut singer, with the initials M.E., in a hotel room, frolicking about in a fashion thought by many only permissible within the bounds of holy matrimony. The man, Y.Z., may or may not be Yahya Zaini of East Java, who is currently on a study tour of Australia, although due to return on December 2nd. The woman, M.E., is Maria Eva, or Maria Ireva, a singer and actress from Surabaya, East Java, who belongs to the Golkar youth organisation.
The five to ten minute porno recording, believed to have been made in 2004, shows the nude singer laying on a bed, seductively one might imagine, while the politician, who is still standing and also stark naked, approaches her. He playfully attempts to take the camera away from the woman, which brings him into rather close contact with her. Shortly after the recording stops.
(((The recording is not a sex act, but appears to be some kind of insurance or blackmail, personally taken by Maria Ireva, in order to establish that the politician in question is unclothed and in the room with her. )))
The video has apparently been circulating among members of parliament and journalists.
House leader of Golkar, Andi Matalatta, says he can't be sure if Y.Z. is involved in the scandal but if he is he will be punished. Y.Z. was known to be a man of good moral character, he said, and so he wasn't jumping to conclusions especially considering he hadn't seen the video yet. (((He's more than a man of "good moral character," his party are Islamic anti-porn activists. He's toast.)))
Chairman of parliament, Hidayat Nurwahid, remarked disapprovingly that parliamentary members have a respected position in society and so should behave themselves and keep their trousers on. The parliamentary ethics committee should take action, he said, unless Golkar itself took action and fired the man.
Deputy chairman of parliament, Muhaimin Iskandar, said if the woman in the video was Y.Z's wife there was no problem, but if not, the code of ethics of the DPR had been violated.
