OK, we no longer feel vaguely sorry for Microsoft.
Somewhat hidden in this week's news that the software giant expects to sell 1 million Zune MP3 players by the middle of 2007 was a typically Microsoftian boast that the company would eventually "be the leader" in the media player market.
This when the buggy first generation of the Zune is driving early owners to seek mental health treatment and has yet to edge out SanDisk in sales rankings. Anyone else thinking of the Black Knight scene in "Monty Python & the Holy Grail?" "It's only a flesh wound...Come back here and I'll bite your leg off."
