James Kim (CNET's digital audio senior editor), his wife Kati, and their daughters Penelope (4 years) and Sabine (7 months) have been missing since Monday Saturday. The last place they were seen was in Portland, OR, and they were heading towards Gold Beach on the Oregon coast, but never showed up at their hotel there.
They drive a 2005 silver Saab station wagon with the license plate "DOESF." CNET's Crave blog says,
Here's hoping they turn up safe and sound with a good story to tell.
Update: A hotline has been set up in Salem, OR for tips; the Kims may have called the hotel they were driving to from a landline; helicopters will augment the land search at some point later today.
Update: The search for the Kims has moved north to Route 42, following a confirmed sighting of the family in a restaurant in Roseburg, OR at approximately 8pm on Saturday, Nov. 25th. Earlier searches by the National Guard, Coast Guard, California Highway Patrol, and the Oregon State Police using sno-cats, snowmobiles, and helicopers, including one commissioned by the Kims' family, turned up nothing.
Update: Kati Kim and both daughters have been helicoptered to safety. James, keep warm, they'll find you soon.
