Possibly of interest only to aficionados of steampunk and steam power, the Oddities and Curiosities section of the railway enthusiast site Railroad Extra is just a treasure trove of cast-iron behemoths of the Victorian age.
Above left is a concept image for an early elevated train, but I'm particularly enamored with the Gyroscopic Locomotive to the right, if only for the beautiful detail in the artwork. I miss the days of glorious engineer impracticality.
