Gadgets make it easy to lie. That's the conclusion of a U.K.-based study into their effects on truthfulness in communication, claiming that more than 80 percent of people hogwash their way through each day, using "Techno-treachery" to make it easy.

Just over half of respondents said using gadgets made them feel less guilty when telling a lie than doing it face to face, the study on behalf of financial services group Friends Provident found.

Most popular fibs included lying about the cost of new clothes, telling people how nice they look today, and how much one eats, drinks, or weighs.
