We like a juicy rumor as much as the next bloggifier, but a new Business Week article offers some pretty compelling reasons why the merger rumor satellite radio contenders XM and Sirius is unlikely to happen.
Start with a history of public name-calling between the two companies. Add the need for far-from-certain regulatory approval. Throw in a handful of executives whose egos don't presage quiet co-operation. Stir into a market where estimates of growth potential vary widely, and there's plenty of motivation for the two companies to struggle along as individual entitities.
