Lots of comments on the new Wired Science TV show I mentioned earlier. Thought I'd respond to a few questions:
You want it? You got it. It'll be available on iTunes and at our PBS site as of January 1. As Wired's blogging guru Joel Johnson just emailed me, "either we're part of the future or we ain't."
Pilot was shot in regular, low-definition televisual quality. Budget. But if we go to series, I'll nudge. It's a good idea.
UPDATE 11:47 AM: I am informed that if we go to series, the show will be in HD per PBS requirements. Your wish is my command
No. I am not 13. Good question, though.
We get a David Byrne original theme song, and you ask for something by the guy from the Daily Show? Dude. Daily Show has a good theme, but...dude. We really like the Byrne theme.
I just looked at a couple of the videos over at Seed and didn't see a similarity, but I might have been looking at the wrong ones.
Funny story about Seed: When I was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT a couple years ago, we had a conference for science writers. The editor in chief, Adam Bly, gave a talk—I think it was kind of his pitch-to-investors. He told us that his plans for the magazine included featuring work by the nation's pre-eminent journalists, and he showed a PowerPoint slide with a list of names.
None of us were on it.
You got it.
I'm also working on getting Brian, Ziya, and Aomowa to start posting here, too. So stay tuned (as we television personalities say).
