
A seven year (and continuing) battle as brought us farmsubsidy.org - a website that catalogs who European farm subsidies are paid out to. The Common Agricultural Policy, which guides who pays and who receives across the European is incredibly contentious, but a kind of EU political third rail. Previously, this was a closely guarded secret, but an army of FOI requests is slowly prying the information lose, where the farmsubsidy.org people post it. The site even lists the countries along a side bar and gives a little icon for the status of their data. The Guardian has the skinny in an article entitled So that's where the €100 billion went:
