SED television technology may make it to the market after all.
Canon has figured out a way to at least settle the internal squabbles hampering surface-conduction electron-emitter display technology, supposedly a cheaper way to make brighter flat-panel sets, by buying out partner Toshiba. SED Inc. will now become a wholly owned Canon subsidiary.
There's still a nasty legal problem or two to work out, and some production challenges, but Canon hopes to have SED sets on the market next year.
