Oh, how I love Phoenix Wright. And after reading through Nintendo Power's interview with the translation team, which just so happens to be utterly packed with details, I love the writers behind it that much more. For example, did you know that the English version of Phoenix Wright is set in Los Angeles? Did you know that you can credit localization specialist extraordinaire JP Kellams for the "Fresh Prince" references?

JP: My favorite example is when Moe goes crazy in case 3. Whenever caught in a lie [in the Japanese version], he would launch into a stream of funny, but untranslatable gibberish. In the English version, Moe’s gibberish has become an upscale kind of jibber jabber.

Upscale indeed. Upscale like Bel Air. Now if only someone could corner them about the grammatical errors that continually drive my internal English major up the wall.
