In my latest Listening Post column, I interview Josh Madell, co-owner of the much-vaunted Other Music record store in Manhattan's East Village to ask him about the company's plan to start selling unprotected MP3 albums at 320 Kbps from its website. In the interview, he compares iTunes to Best Buy, sees a strong need for a thoughtfully-curated indie digital music store that sells music in a format most people can use, and speculates that we could soon see a world where releases come out in vinyl and MP3 -- no CD.
