New Risk for Lap Dancers: Skin Infection

Doctors have been worrying for a few years now about a nasty skin infection called community-associated MRSA, which has moved from hospitals into the outside world, afflicting groups from gay men to football players.

Now, there are signs that the disease can be spread through sex. Or, as one new report suggests, via a kind of close body contact.

In a letter published in the *Annals of Emergency Medicine *in January, [a doctor] reported treating a lap dancer for MRSA infections on her buttocks.

"She relayed that other lap dancers at her clubhad similar problems, considered a known occupational hazard by thewomen," he wrote.
