PS3, FUD, and Other Acronymical Delights

I spend a lot of time on NeoGAF, so I'm well acquainted with FUD. GamesIndustry.biz takes a look at "fear, uncertainty, and doubt," and how that all played into the launch of the PlayStation 3 (and continues to be a factor as Sony gears up for the Europe launch):

However, the pall which currently lies over the PS3's launch may be full of fear, uncertainty and doubt, but it's not of Microsoft's making. Rather, it's a cloud of Sony's own creation - a rare and unfortunate instance of a corporation managing to FUD its own product rather spectacularly, albeit with willing (and certainly unwanted) help from the media along the way.

The problem with labeling bad news as FUD is that these days a lot of it comes true. Remember when people were laughed at for spreading the rumor that PS3's innards weren't fitting inside the case design? Then they unveiled the final version and it was significantly larger. Whoops.
