*You know what's really weird? I think I might actually have a use for this thing. Not a hundred bucks worth of use, but some use.
If it was like a Swiss Army knife and detected *every kind*
of wireless emanation, that would rock totally.

"As the 2.4 GHz ISM Band becomes more popular (and more congested) interference from non-Wifi devices can seriously degrade Wi-Fi performance. Other Wi-Fi tools, such as NetStumbler and Kismet only provide information about other Wi-Fi devices, but do not show interference from cordless phones, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, Zigbee, and other 2.4 GHz devices. Wi-Spy™ is the only currently available tool under $2500 that shows you signal strength across the entire 2.4 GHz Band at the radio frequency (RF) level instead of just guessing."
June 19, 2006 - "You just can’t beat being able to 'see' the spectrum you are using. Not having to take out a personal loan to buy the equipment is another plus. The software may have its quirks here and there, but no matter what, it still provides a good view of the spectrum you will be attempting to navigate. Software can be upgraded and fixed, and I believe that as time goes by, it will only get better. Considering its competition, the Wi-Spy is a steal at $100. If you do any type of wireless network setups, or you get drafted to set up everyone else’s, the Wi-Spy should most definitely be in your laptop bag."
March 31, 2006 - "If you ever wanted to learn more about your Wi-Fi net and interference sources, especially in a small office or hotspot environment, Wi-Spy offers inexpensive insight."
February 14, 2006 - "Sure, it doesn't have all the features of the higher-priced products, and for $100 you don't really expect it to. But MetaGeek seems to have made the right tradeoffs in Wi-Spy's design, with the result being a product that delivers not only what's needed, but some nice little extras, too... if you've been lusting after the high-priced stuff for a cash-strapped IT department or just for hacking and exploration, then lust no more—just buy it!"
February 3, 2006 - "Wi-Spy is cheap, small, and easy enough to use that it can be a major step towards compensating or eliminating interference with your WLAN."
