This Flickr photoset of a party in Paris makes me livid with jealousy. I attend as many costumed events on my own continent as I can, but I have never seen any even vaguely approach the sheer savoir faire of this little get-together.
Sure there’s stuff like the Labyrinth of Jareth masquerade ball, and various vampire-themed events thrown by Goths, Camarilla members, and Renn Fairers, but it doesn’t seem quite the same somehow.
But I would be remiss if I did not mention Kascadia, who actually threw a very stylish, steampunk-horror soiree last year, complete with absinthe and a fine selection of gas masks.
