The Burning Means It's Working

Another midnight, another eagerly anticipated release, this time for the latest World of Warcraft expansion, The Burning Crusade. Throngs of slavering fans lined the streets until they were finally ushered into the promised land, or at least their local EB.

New gear, flying mounts, and expanded Outlands content were big draws for many WoW fans putting off bedtime to get their grubby mitts on the expansion, even those who'd managed to (temporarily) kick their Warcrack addiction. 1up's Dan Dormer was right there in the thick of it, and his coverage is, dare I say it, kinda heartwarming, in a geeky sort of way:

Some players donned shirts to showcase their allegiance, as the EB was selling merch to the waiting customers.
According to employees, all wearing "For the Horde" shirts greatly outnumbered those who were Humans, Dwarves, Night
Elves, and Gnomes. Thankfully, no Horde-on-Alliance or
Alliance-on-Horde crimes occurred outside of the occasional "f*** the
Horde" or
"f*** the Alliance." Imagine having to explain the reason for a fight was because they were part of a different faction.

Oh, and by the way? Blood Elves are pretty much the coolest named race evar.
