The discovery earlier this week that stores from Circuit City to Best Buy and everything in between would be scoring a new shipment of Wii consoles yesterday morning brought all the would-be Wii owners outside in the freezing morning air. There are lots of new Wii players today, but at least as many disappointed. Here's a sampling of the stories from around the webs:
Ars Technica: "So they promised (in person) 20 two days ago, when in reality they had 4. Had I known that I wouldn't have even bothered attempting."
A couple more links after the jump.
NeoGAF: "I called local Target, 50 units gone right after 8am. I lined up at
Bestbuy about 20 minutes before opening, no tickets or vouchers, just a mad dash to the palette of wiis in the center of the store. After bagging one, I headed to gamestop about 30 minutes later since Bestbuy had ZERO remotes and chuks. Strangely, I could have bought a second one while I was there. I went back later for Wario Ware and of course, they were all out of hardware altogether."
Joystiq: "By the time the second employee arrived at 11:02, the line had ballooned to 45 people, some of whom tried to disregard the now-full list and cut to the front of the line. As my sister put it "we weren't having any of that" -- angry cries of "we have a list, we have a list"
forced them to try their luck at the back of the line."
