Aaaargh! A Million Joss Whedon Fans Cry Out in Pain

Say it ain't so, Joss! Apparently Joel Silver and Co. have completely spiked Joss Whedon's script for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. Joss delivered the bad news himself today on Whedonesque:

I'm no longer slated to make Wonder Woman. What? But how? My chest...
so tight! Okay, stay calm and I'll explain as best I can. It's prettycomplicated, so bear with me. I had a take on the film that, well,
nobody liked. Hey, not that complicated.

Let me stress first that everybody at the studio and Silver Pictureswere cool and professional. We just saw different movies, and at theprice range this kind of movie hangs in, that's never gonna work.
Non-sympatico. It happens all the time. I don't think any of usexpected it to this time, but it did. Everybody knows how long I wastaking, what a struggle that script was, and though I felt good aboutwhat I was coming up with, it was never gonna be a simple slam-dunk. I
like to think it rolled around the rim a little bit, but others mayhave differing views.

Joss also says that he'd never picked an actress for the role, so all our fannish speculation was for naught. As are all our hopes that we'll finally have a Wonder Woman movie we could love. With Joss out of the picture, I think we can expect something along the lines of poor Halle Berry's Catwoman. Though we can all look forward to other Joss projects like the upcoming horror flick Goners, I think I'm not the only fan who needs a good, stiff drink right now.
