Virtual items auctioned off at EverQuest II site Station Exchange earned $1.87 million during the site's first year of operation. Station Exchange was founded in 2005 to give EQ2 players a safe and reliable venue for selling their hard-earned in-game swag. The most valuable items traded were, unsurprisingly, characters, which sold for as much as $2000 a pop. Dark Elves were the big faves, followed by high elves and humans.
The biggest seller on Station Exchange turned a tidy profit, bringing home $37,435 from a total of 351 auctions, but each of the top 15 sellers on the site earned in the neighborhood of ten grand. Not bad for trafficking in stuff that doesn't actually exist, huh?
