To avoid the ultimate sin for a controller--the "false negative" where you make a motion and nothing happens--we found we needed to make the gestures very generous, i.e. tolerant of a lot of variation in the player's moves. The problem is that the more generous you make a given move, the easier it is for it to overlap with other different moves.

A false negative, you say? I think I know what that is.
