Jim Morrison's estate gave a rare recording of the ex-Door to Perry Ferrell of a song called "Woman in the Window," "written from the perspective of an angel sent to Earth to advise the human race on the perils it faces," according to The Guardian UK. Ferrell has parlayed the recording into an upcoming album about global warming featuring remixes from New Order, Ferrell himself, and others. The concept behind the song reminds me a bit of Jimi Hendrix's "Third Stone from the Sun," although instead of admiring our chickens before destroying our planet, Morrison's alien/angel apparently gives humans advice on how not to destroy it (lyric comparison after the jump).
Yesterday, Ferrell and the rest of the people involved in the Global Cool campaign visited Tony Blair and various business leaders at 10 Downing Street to talk about methods for slowing down global warming. At one point, the odds on Perry Ferrell becoming the next Bono-style messianic celebrity global superhero seemed pretty slim, but that could end up being the case.
The only released lyric from the Morrison/Farrell anti-global warming song is "Man you are evil, get out of my garden."
Contrast that with Jimi Hendrix's take:
"Although your world wonders me
with your majestic superior cackling hen
Your people I do not understand
So to you I wish to put an end
And you'll never hear surf music again."
The Woman in the Window album should be released in April.
