Camera maker Nikon reported that profits for the last three months of 2006 grew 60 percent and sales were up 21 percent over the same period a year ago, thanks to growing demand for digital SLRs.
Nikon last year decided to stop making most of its film cameras to concentrate on the digital market, particularly SLRs, which promise plumper profits and better growth than the cookie-cutter point-and-shoot digicam segment.
Speaking of which, Nikon recently released firmware upgrades for its D40 and D80 SLRs. The patches add Windows Vista support and fix a host of teeny annoyances.
