I have a great fondness for the brightly colored clunk of vintage toys. The giddy retro-futurism of these playthings appeal to me: consider the Space Tank (top left) driven by a built-in robot torso, who apparently needs to push on levers to steer his considerable caboose. Or the Moon Rocket (bottom right), complete with periscope! The self-evident naming of such toys is also a delight: Mr. Robot is exactly what he sounds like. And it's a constant surprise to see how much attention to detail went into making these little toys: the external cerebellum of Orbitron, The Man From Uranus is stained brown, as well it would be, given his origins.
