Over on his blog, 1up's news editor Luke Smith posits the following theory about what Sony will do to counter the big news about the Halo 3 beta. Hint: it starts with "K," and ends with "illzone 2":

Aside from the obvious connection between Killzone and Halo being first-party developed shooters and the first Killzone being branded with the unfortunate moniker of "Halo-killer," the ties between these games are going to bind even closer this Spring.
Expect a playable Killzone 2 demo to be released (hmm, Phil Harrison is keynoting at GDC...) before gamers are participating in the beta for Halo 3.

It's still just a rumor, but Luke isn't the sort to just throw this information around without really meaning it. Killzone is becoming rather conspicuous by its absence; it was a funny punchline back when Sony was trying to pass off an obviously fake CG video as in-game footage, but we haven't heard a thing since...
