Touted as the rarest and most exquisite of U2's music video props, the "bomb" from "How To Dismantle An Atom Bomb" has apparently sold on eBay for $800. Only one bidder responded to the offer; a very loyal fan, no doubt. The bomb is in fact a functioning alarm clock dressed up to look like a science-fictional nuclear popper (alas, there are no pixilated Light-Brite cartoon characters...), with the innards encased in a translucent red plastic case.
It's a pretty little gadget all by itself, mind you: I'd cough up $20 for one in green. It doesn't really look much like a bomb, mind you—if anything, it makes me want that intriguing transparent clock that Hammacher Schlemmer sells.
