The effect I look for in a pair of glasses is subtle. I will often ask my cute optometrist, "Which one? Clark Kent? Or Superman?", whipping my glasses on and off between sentences. What I'm looking for is a pair of spectacles that brings out the Superman in my wheezy, dorky Clark Kent.
None of Scott from Urban Spectacles of Woods' seem to meet this criterion, but I dig them anyway. His glasses are hand-designed and built from bicycle parts, camera parts, carved wood and more. I can't imagine ever wearing a set of glasses like these, but it doesn't make it any less wonderful.
