Eliza and I have spent a great deal of this afternoon in awe of performance art genius Bernice Juach, otherwise known by his YouTube handle Daxflame. Channeling the personality of an awkward gay Asperger's sufferer, Daxflame releases incredibly funny and well acted video "diaries" about his homoerotic crush on classmate Jacob and his new girlfriend Sofia. Every clip is brilliant down to the finest details: the way he tucks a dress shirt and blazer into his sweatpants to impress Jacob when he thinks he's coming over, the sinking of his skull into his shoulders when he's describing embarrassing events, or his nervous grunting and hand wringing when he's otherwise ranting on about his day-to-day life.
It's hard to pick a specific video to highlight: you should follow the saga from his first vlog post yourself. They're all so good, so nuanced. However, this transcendent moment when he tries to become friends with the coquettish Jacob by urinating on him is positively transcendent. If you decide to pursue more of his considerable oeuvre of post-modern masterpieces, pay attention to the YouTube tags: cool, handsome and popular always top them.
