We already told you about a British study that said playing racing games increases the likelihood that someone drive recklessly; now there's a German study backing that claim up. The researchers, whose study appeared in the Journal of Experimental Psychology, questioned 198 men and women; the gamers in the group were more likely to report risky driving behaviors and accidents than those who did not feel the Need for Speed.

The researchers took 83 men--one wonders how they were chosen--and had them play either a racing or a non-racing game. Those that raced reported more risk-taking thoughts and feelings than the non-racing group. The study also examined 68 men and found that those who played even one racing game tended to take more risks when driving in a computer simulation of real-world traffic situations. Perhaps they were just trying to get to the original Levi's store.
