Ahh, the Five Stages of Security Theatre. From the comic (security cameras watching speed cameras) to denial (RFID passports cracked), the UK Government are having a hard time in their march towards a police state.
Now you don't even need to fake a passport. Of 16,500 fraudulent applications last year, 10,000 were granted. And those are the official government estimates. According to the Guardian, Dhiren Barot, "the most senior al-Qaida terrorist ever captured in Britain" managed to get two new passports while in prison on a life sentence.
I guess this means we'll all be banned from passports in our carry on luggage.
