(((You and the rest of mankind can't die off fast enough.)))
Dear Buce Sterling:
You are spreading a delusion with your consumerist environmentalism. Apparently the billions of impoverished non-consumers have escaped your attention as you seek to cater to the vanity of the prosperous obese hyperconsumers of America.
Instead of attempting to sell things you ought to encourage Americans to stop all consumer activities altogether. Americans don't need to buy new,
"environmentally-friendly" products. Americans need to stop buying altogether.
re: "They're all about creating irresistible consumer demand for cool objects that will yield a global atmosphere upgrade."
You are expressing either a lie or a delusion in the above. Irresistible consumer demand has already destroyed & polluted the entire Earth. Encouraging more consumerism will only serve to destroy the Earth much more.
re: "We're gonna glam, spend and consume our way into planetary survival."
Another lie and delusion. Homo sapiens have already inflicted a mortal blow upon the species. Humankind's survival becomes less likely with each pasing day.
The consumerist salvation that you are offering will only serve to accelerate humankind's extinction.
Mr. Sterling, futurists have a long history of making grandiose predictions about techno-utopia, techno-salvation and even techno-immortality. All of these promises have failed while humankind has transformed the Earth into humankind's own special sewer.
It is time for humankind to stop. It is time for consumerism to die. It is time for technology to pass away.
If humankind will not sacrifice these things, Nature will sacrifice Homo sapiens. When Homo sapiens go extinct all of our accomplishments will be forgotten and the forces of erosion will erase all memories of humankind's existence from the surface of the Earth.
There is no salvation nor any solution to the human problem. Nature will solve this problem in a manner which is a tragedy for our species. Consumers are driving humankind off of the cliff which separates survival from extinction.
Your solution is no solution. Consumerism is the sickness, the addiction, the poison which is exterminating humankind from the Universe.
It is time for humans to stop. That's what you must tell the public.
Sincerely,
