Denver's Regional Transportation District has rejected a proposed ban of ads for adult-rated games on its buses and trains. The ban was originally suggested by the Parents Television Council and the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, who complained that the ads exposed children to violent and sexual imagery. After consulting with a gaggle of lawyers, directors decided to nix the ban. Board member John Tayer was regretful, but realistic:
If I were a parent--which, admittedly I'm not, unless you count the cat--I think I'd be more concerned with any real-life sex and violence my child might see on public transportation, and less about an advertisement that they'd just as easily see in a magazine or online. Parents, what do you think?
