Sanyo has unveiled a pair of new camcorders,
including one that uses the new Advanced Video Codec H.624 H.264 for more compact storage of MPEG-4 clips.
Besides H.624 H.264 support, which reduces file sizes by 25 percent, the new Xacti CG65 has a gyrosensor system for counterbalancing hand shake, still image capture at up to 6 megapixels, 7x zoom, a 2.5-in swiveling LCD screen and high-speed processing that allows usable video capture even in very dim light. The camera goes on sale next month for $400.
The CG6 has similar physical specs but drops H-624 H.264 support. It will sell for $330 starting next week.
