Microsoft's Shane Kim sat down with Gamasutra and waxed philosophical about the competition. And by "waxed philosophical," I mean he basically laughed and pointed at Sony before sending a respectful nod Nintendo's way.
Given the amount of bad press that Sony has received lately, we'd be fools to think that Kim and his pals at the big M aren't laughing behind their hands a bit, but he was fairly civil when describing what he thought of the current state of the 360/PS3 brawl:
While respecting how the Wii is broadening the gaming audience, Kim wasn't terribly concerned about them from a competition standpoint, saying, "I don't view Nintendo as a direct competitor, simply because they're not trying to do the same things as we are on the higher end -- they don't have the same online aspirations as we do." Kim did acknowledge that Microsoft would be wise to tap into Nintendo's "expanded audience," however.
