Some X-Rays were just made to be heavy metal covers: our poor sucker of the day is Shafique el-Fahkri, who taunted an Australian builder until he drove a chair through his face.

Mr Reardon described the visual injuries to Mr el-Fahkri as some of the most awful he had seen in his experience with the criminal law.

He acknowledged the the firemen who cut the leg from the chair and the surgeons who operated on Mr el-Fahkri who he said had amazingly survived the horrific injuries.

It was to Mr el-Fahkri and his family's credit that they did not seek retribution or revenge in any way, he said.

The leg entered Mr el-Fahkri's left eye socket, pushed his eyeball to the side and continued down through his throat.

Luckily, it turns out that el-Fahkri is frickin' Superman: not only did he live, but he's pretty much fine. Getting a chair speared through the eye only resulted in a 5% loss of vision.

He's also, for the record, pretty much a saint: "I forgive him, totally!" he said.
