Best Buy has announced a new program to boost consumer electronics recycling.

The big box retailer will provides grants of up to $1,000 each to qualified community organizations to help fund recycling events -- those "bring in your old PCs and TVs" sessions that infrequently take over community college parking lots on the weekend.

Best Buy already has recycling kiosks in stores for responsible disposal of small items, such as cell phones, batteries and inkjet cartridges. It also hosts recycling events in store parking lots that to date have pulled in more than 5 million pounds of last year's greatest thing.
