Another day, another next-gen DVD metric.
Trade publication Home Media Magazine is reporting that Blu-ray movie discs outsold HD-DVD titles 7 to 3 in the first quarter of 2007. The Sony-backed format pulled ahead in February and took a commanding lead in March.
The magazine's survey tallies total sales of 1.2 million next-gen DVD discs in the quarter. Of those, 832,530 were in Blu-ray format and 359,300 in HD-DVD. Top-sellers were the Blu-ray exclusive "Casino Royale" and Oscar-winner "The Departed," available in both formats.
Another recent survey showed dedicated HD-DVD players outselling Blu-ray.
