Sony's Cybershot DSC-S800 offers 6x optical zoom, adding a fat goggle-lens to the diminutive frame of its point-and-shoot range. With 8.1 megapixels, ISO 1250 and a 2.5" LCD display, it's an otherwise fairly standard concealed carry, and will likely pop up soon for $300 or so.
Optical zoom rules, but it usually sits on a big throne. Tradition has is that digiams offer any given two of the following three options: zoom, small, good. To get past 3 or 4x, most models switch to "digital zoom," which is an advertising lie which actually means, "crop and resize the photo."
Committed Cybsershot fans will rejoice, but Kodak did 10x a year ago with its Easyshare V610.
