Earlier today we teased you with a John Doerr hint at the future of broadband spectrums, and now we complete the tech titillation with news that Frontline Wireless has partnered with Doerr, Jim Barksdale (former head of Netscape) and Vanu Bose, head of Vanu Inc., a software radio company focused on wireless technologies. Frontline’s recruitment of such Valley heavyweights is an attempt to slam-dunk its way through its proposal to build a new wireless network in 2009.
Considering that Frontline already counts former FCC chairman Reed Hundt as its Vice Chairman, this new firepower is merely stacking the deck. The exact amounts of the investment support from Doerr and Barksdale remain a secret, but just attaching their names to the effort creates a new momentum that will be hard to deny.
