According to a new survey called the Game Developer Salary Report 2004-2007, European programmers earn about 33% less than their North American counterparts. More than 1000 programmers from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Spain took part in the survey.

If you want to get into game development in Europe, try to get into the business or legal side of things--they make the most of anyone in the biz over there, according to the survey. After them comes the production staff, then the programmers, then the designers, and finally, the QA staff.

The difference between Euro salaries and US salaries diminishes the further down the food chain you go; the difference between QA paychecks, for example, is only 7%. So, think the US is going to see an influx of European game developers, looking for a better payday?
