Hackers Invited to Crack Voting System

Always wanted to subvert an election? The Philippines election commission is inviting you to show them what you've got. The country is test-piloting a new internet voting system from July 10-30 and wants hackers to kick the tires (alas, the election results won't be binding). The system was designed by a Spanish firm and is already being used in Switerland and Belgium.

Hackers be warned. Your task won't be easy, according to this statement of assurance from the Philippines election commissioner:

"When Scytl presented the system, everybody was impressed on the security features. It is covered by international patent and it has been declared secured by no less than Switzerland and everyone in the global community should respect that decision," Tuason told reporters in a conference Tuesday.
