Samsumg would very much like to sell you a wireless 1080p TV set, but movie moguls think you'll use it for evil. DRM concerns may yet scupper the planned September release of the 50" and 58" FP-T5094 and FP-T5894, which each include 802.11n WiFI and support for 1080p streaming video.
In negotiation with studios, Sammy hopes to secure approval by June, to ensure the set's settled in the retail channels for the holiday season. There are ancillary issues: apparently, Sammy is working to make sure videophiles have a good reason to fork out $4,000 for the smaller model and $5,200 for the larger.
Isn't it sad, how far we've gone? DRM has got to the point where movie studios can effectively control the technology used in television sets, even when it is, as in this case, merely an upgrade on an earlier, Korea-only model.
