As the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences preps for a 30th anniversary screening of "Star Wars" next Monday, news breaks that "Empire Strikes Back" writer Lawrence Kasdan is penning a remake of 1981's Harry Hamlin - in - a toga kitsch classic "Clash of the Titans."

Warner Brothers will produce the Greek legend action pic, says Hollywood Reporter.

There will, of course, be plenty of visual effect spectacle aiming to improve on the surreal stop motion effects crafted by Ray Harryhaussen in the original. But Kasdan likes to ground his thrills in believable settings, he told me back when he was directing his adaptation of Stephen King's "Dreamcatcher"

"Effects are great when you believe they're really there in the room with you. A weasel that blows out your ass - I read that and I thought - okay, you haven't seen that in a movie. That's going 'Alien' one better. I like making creature features where the characters are real people."
