The latest meta-operator to hit the U.S. market is Japan's KDDI, which will offer a mobile phone service layered atop that of Sprint-Nextel. It will be branded with their own boring, opaque acronym.
They'll have their job cut out for them in the competitive North American market, what with the domestic carriers themselves sitting pretty and plenty of stylish-branded competition.
AFP's stort suggests they're coming to America because of pressure in a home market dominated by NTT DoCoMo, which has itself bungled every attempt it's made to enter western markets.
