Lenovo just snagged the contract to make the torch for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
The "Cloud of Promise" firestick was chosen from 300 contenders and sports a level of design pizazz you might not have expected from a company mainly associated with the Thinkpad.
The torch is made from aluminum-magnesium alloy, sports a vivid red-and-silver design based on traditional Chinese depictions of clouds, has an ergonomic grip and weighs in at 2.21 pounds.
It's completely combustion-based -- no microchips or batteries -- so there should be none of those nasty problems with accidental explosions.
Look for it next year on a continent near you.
