
Just when you think Microsoft might be ready to let the Zune whither and die in a semi-dignified fashion, the geniuses in Redmond get a brainstorm.
"We'll add more colors! And ratchet up the advertising! Yeah, that's the ticket to turning this one around!"
That's the message Zune marketing director Jason Reindorp gave TheStreet in an apparently serious "We're gonna turn this thing around!" talk. A pink Zune goes on sale next month, followed by a yet-to-be-named color. Around the same time, they'll be a new advertising campaign focusing on differentiators such as crippled-on-purpose wireless capability and customized home screens.
We await Apple's panicked response.
