Photobucket CEO Alex Welch tells us that MySpace is once again allowing Photobucket videos and photos to be embedded on their website.
Welch said, “Following discussions with MySpace, we’re pleased to announce that all Photobucket videos and remixes are enabled once more on MySpace with immediate effect. Both our companies are committed to putting our users first. Moving forward, we’ve established open lines of communication and procedures with MySpace to prevent a sudden block of Photobucket content in future.”
The big question is: Why the change from MySpace? Welch fails to offer any explanation on his site, and MySpace barely addressed the issue at all during the hubbub weeks ago. It would be nice to know exactly what sparked this sudden change of heart. Perhaps MySpace conducted a few meetings and realized that playing in the social media sandbox will require a less rigid hand than News Corp is used to in order to engender the loyalty of users. But remember, this is News Corp, so the honeymoon probably won’t last long.
