While not quite as shocking as Sony entering the iPod accessory business,
Philips has also joined the "if you can't beat 'em, make little white doohickeys for 'em" crowd.
The Dutch conglomerate announced Friday that it plans to Digital Lifestyle Outfitters, which specializes in iPod accessories such as docking stattions, car chargers and FM transmitters.
All of these, of course, benefit a product line that competes directly (and quite successfully) with Philips' own GoGear line of players. And if this is the first time you've encountered that brand name, that's perhaps explanation enough for why they want to make iPod accessories.
